ABC welcomes the Mayor of Tijuana Dr. Jorge Astiazarán and Señor Xavier Peniche, Secretary of Economic Development for the City of Tijuana, for an official visit to dedicate the recently completed bypass-road and learn about ABC’s growth and role as a major employer in the region with staff close to 1250

Today, Wadih Kuri, President and CEO and Señor Jorge Kuri, together with Moises Guzman, CFO and Mauricio Villarreal, Plant Director, welcomed Dr. Jorge Astiazarán, the Mayor of Tijuana, and Señor Xavier Peniche, Tijuana’s Secretary of Economic Development, dignitaries, and their teams, who came to ABC’s main plant in the Santa Fe district of the city, on an official visit.

Telemundo and photographers were present to record the entire occasion, that included a presentation followed by a complete factory tour.

Currently celebrating its 17th year under present ownership, ABC has expanded rapidly in recent years, and since 2010, the number of employees has grown from 200 to 1245. The company now has four major presses and a land area for the main factory that extends to nearly 80 acres, with production tonnage having increased from 23 million in 2013 to 48 million in 2016.

Recently announced was the completion of a new bypass-road, that connects to the main highway that heads south from Tijuana to Rosarito and beyond, an initiative by ABC to relieve the local community of traffic essential for the plant, and improve plant access to the Border and to Baja’s new Port.

For both these reasons, this official visit was to recognize ABC’s success and significant economic contribution to the city and the region.

Throughout, it was very evident from the comments made, that Mayor Astiazarán and Secretary Peniche were extremely impressed and enjoyed their experience.

Wadih Kuri, thanking the Mayor and Secretary, said

“This has been an honor for all of us to host your visit and show you our progress, and we truly appreciate your interest and generous words. We also thank you for your considerable contribution towards ensuring that this badly needed new road has been completed successfully.

ABC has many plans in hand to continue our growth still further, to expand our value to the city, the region, and our community; again, thank you for your presence and time today, and we look forward our continuing relationship, and to the possibility of a return visit in the future; it would be our pleasure, and you will always be very welcome

Thank you all”.
