As you know, ABC has been following this situation closely, and, as long-term members of the Aluminum Extruders Council and the Aluminum Association, we appreciate that Heidi Brock, President of the Aluminum Association, yesterday, wrote a Letter, on behalf of ALL Members in North America, addressed to the President’s Desk.
This Letter presented a case, and argument, against Across-the-Board-Tariffs. The focus of the Letter was on Mexico, Canada, and the EU; and even Steve Mnuchin, United States Secretary of The Treasury, came out yesterday publicly to speak against tariffs being imposed upon Mexico and Canada; also, Secretary of Commerce, Wilbur Ross, who commissioned the Investigation and Report nine months ago.
China and other countries, such as South Korea, India, and Brazil, but others also, especially in Asia, where transference may be taking place, and in some cases, are known to be taking place, represent a distinct issue, that are likely to become the subject of tariffs.
As a matter of Policy, ABC is non-political; but has been, and is, of course, concerned; and so, has been following the unfolding news daily; this is a very positive development, and we want to provide this update for all our Valued Customers and Clients.
President Trump is scheduled to sign the Executive Order tomorrow at 12:30 PM PDT, publicly, that will confirm.
Wadih Kuri said today “This is good news, though we will continue to monitor. Should there be any questions at all with news in the media regarding this Report, and also regarding any uncertainty about tariffs, that perhaps may have raised cause for concern – although the matter now seems to have been settled; – nevertheless – please do immediately call ABC, and you can ask for me, on 619 240 3526 – Nadia Alcaraz, our Executive Assistant, will answer, and forward – so that we can address. Or Tim Evans, our Marketing Director on direct cell 858 380 7364. Thank you.”
