Aluminum Production together with Steel Confirmed by the U.S. Government as Being Vital for maintaining the country’s critical Infrastructure.

On Saturday, March 28th, the DHS Cyber and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) released Version 2.0 of its guidance flagging companies and workers in industries deemed essential for maintaining the critical infrastructure of the United States. Included in the edict are:

  1. Critical Manufacturing: Companies manufacturing in aluminum
  2. Supply Chain Support: Workers engaged in manufacturing of materials and products in aluminum; essential for maintaining and supporting supply chains.
  3. Additionally, workers needed to maintain the continuity of these manufacturing functions and associated supply chains

This is official confirmation by the United States Government that much of ABC Aluminum’s manufacturing falls within the CISA definition of ‘Critical Industry Manufacturer’. In excess of 85% of ABC’s manufacturing is shipped to the United States and Canada, the majority of which is for the U.S. A further 5% ships to Australia. Canada and Australia are both likely to mirror the view and position of the U.S., and CISA’s Order.
