Our story
Reinventing Aluminum: The Rise of ABC Aluminum Solutions
ABC Aluminum Solutions didn’t emerge from a corporate playbook—it was built through vision, determination, and a deep belief in what’s possible. The story began in 1991 with AMESA, a small extrusion operation on the outskirts of Tijuana, Mexico. By the late 1990s, the business was in serious distress and was acquired by investors interested more in the land than in manufacturing.
What followed was a decisive change in direction. Recognizing the untapped potential of the operation, the new leadership team made a long-term commitment to rebuilding it from the ground up. Today, ABC Aluminum Solutions is a fully integrated aluminum manufacturing leader, operating 1.3 million square feet of production space with more than 3,000 team members and an annual capacity exceeding 180 million pounds. From two campuses in Tijuana—just a few miles from the U.S. border—we operate a state-of-the-art recycling and casting facility, 11 extrusion presses, multiple finishing lines, and extensive fabrication and value-added capabilities. Our integrated capabilities across the entire value chain enable us to deliver high-performance aluminum solutions at scale to global leaders in the automotive, construction, industrial, and solar sectors.
What began as a small, struggling extrusion plant is now a world-class operation—built on visionary leadership, continuous improvement, technical excellence, and a commitment to helping our customers grow.
1991
- Founding Year
- AMESA is established on October 12 as an aluminum extrusion operation in Tijuana, Mexico.
1999
- New Identity and Capabilities
- The company becomes ABC Aluminum Solutions. A new 7” press is installed, along with manual anodizing and a horizontal powder coating line.
2010
- Facility Growth and Quality Milestone
- A 10” SMS press is added and facilities expand by 12,000 sq. ft. ISO 9001:2000 certification is achieved, and acid-etch anodizing is introduced.
2013
- Certifications and Press Expansion
- ABC earns Qualicoat® and C-TPAT certifications. An 8” Presezzi press and vertical powder coating line are installed to enhance capacity and finishing.
2014
- Automation and CNC Integration
- An automated anodizing line is launched. Advanced CNC machining centers from Emmegi and Tekna are added, along with the Decoral® wood grain system.
2015
- Thermal Performance and Standards
- ABC meets AAMA paint certification standards and integrates thermal break (RTP) technology to serve insulated profile applications.
2016
- Major Facility Expansion
- 150,000 sq. ft. of new space is built and a 7” Kautec press is installed to support higher production volumes.
2017
- New Coating Line and Land Acquisition
- A carousel powder coating line is commissioned, and 1.5 hectares of land are acquired for future growth.
2018
- Safety and Logistics Expansion
- ABC earns OHSAS 18001:2007 certification and adds 7,000 m² of warehouse space for improved storage and distribution.
2020
- Vertical Integration and Digitalization
- In-house billet casting begins with the first melt completed in August. ABC signs with Salesforce for commercial operations and creates a dedicated Project Management Office.
2021
- ABC North and Sustainability Launch
- The ABC North facility opens. The Super Green Aluminum program is introduced, focused on low-impact, eco-efficient manufacturing practices.
2023
- Super Green Expansion and Automotive Growth
- A second smelting line and electric substation are added. The Super Green plant is completed. A 12” press is commissioned, and three additional presses are installed. The Value-Add Center and CMM metrology system are launched.
2024
- Next-Gen Sustainable Manufacturing
- The Super Green Aluminum Processing Center goes live. New 7”, 8”, and 12” presses boost capacity, while automated anodizing and a dedicated substation improve energy efficiency.

SuperGreen Aluminum
Our SuperGreen Aluminum program is built on circular economy principles, reducing CO₂ emissions and minimizing reliance on primary aluminum through advanced recycling and reprocessing technologies.
We source high-quality scrap aluminum from verified suppliers and integrate it with internally recycled material from our closed-loop production system. Using state-of-the-art smelting and casting technology, we transform reclaimed aluminum into high-performance billets, optimizing material efficiency, reducing waste, and significantly lowering environmental impact.
