ABC, the first Mexican company to implement the Social Security Institute’s ELSSA program.

The collaboration agreement

ABC is proud to present The Safe and Healthy Workplace Environments Program or ELSSA for its acronym in Spanish which is provided by the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS).

The program brings mobile medical units to manufacturing companies in Mexico to treat pre-existing medical conditions of all employees and make sure to identify, prevent and/or control diabetes, and cardiovascular problems, among other diseases that employees may present.

Baja California’s Secretary of Health, J. Adrian Medina Amarillas came to our headquarters to hold a press conference and reassure our teams that this government is committed to open collaboration with the manufacturing community to have healthier individuals and help prevent illnesses to improve the quality of life of the working population which leads to strengthening the state’s progress, growth, and prosperity.

ELSSA is a program where companies voluntarily implement health strategies and actions to improve the employee’s safety and well-being, all together. Furthermore, ELSSA aims to improve productivity and quality of life in the workplace, putting the creation of Safe and Healthy Work Environments at the forefront of its goals.

ELSSA is available nationwide and reaches more than one million IMSS beneficiaries. Baja California’s government plans is to cover 1,100 manufacturing companies which will definitely have a positive impact on more than 400,000 workers in this state.

The first stage of ELSSA in Baja California is based on a rotating schedule of medical units to cover up to four manufacturing areas in Tijuana, and then expand the opportunity to the rest of the cities in the state.

The collaboration agreement was signed at the press conference by the Secretary of Health of Baja California, J. Adrián Medina Amarillas, the General Secretary of IMSS, Marcos Bucio Mujica, as well as authorities from INDEX and ABC Aluminum Solutions.
