ABC Continues Its Strong Growth with a Major Expansion on Schedule in 2023

Super Green Aluminum

Four months ago, ground was broken on a major construction project, the first step being to build a structure to house three new presses being delivered in March which will commence production in June. This building has a footprint of 16,995 square meters / 4.2 acres and is now 85% complete.

7´, 8´, and 12-inch Presses

The integration of these three state-of-the-art presses and associated equipment will further ABC’s production capacity from 15,720,000 pounds per month to 25,000,000 pounds, an increase of 37.8%. Each will require 50 additional experienced employees.

The largest of the three, with the capability to extrude 6,000,000 pounds a month, will accommodate extruded shapes up to a 12 inch diameter/cross-section. This is believed to be only the third of its size in Mexico.

Water Storage Tank

In addition, ABC is adding its own water storage tank to supply the entire Santa Fe plant. This will include a reserve capacity sufficient to supply the company’s firefighting system.

Designated Ingot Storage Area

As part of the overall project, additional land of 8,000 square meters / 2 acres has been bought for warehousing ingots. It is located for efficient transfer of the virgin aluminum that feeds the presses, for Building J, on the hill between the main plant (completed four years ago), and the new presses in the new Building M at the top of the hill.

Electrical Substation

This investment will enable ABC to control, manage, and regulate consistent power. Directly linked to the main Electrical Grid, this important addition helps to protect against outages, and variations in current.

Additional Automated Anodizing Plant

This will be housed in a further new construction adjacent to the substation. It is similar in design and capacity to ABC’s 6 million dollar, 26 tank, anodizing plant that came online a few years ago. The automation control systems are so sophisticated that the entire start to finish operation can be controlled and monitored by just one or two specialists, with employees only needed for the loading and unloading of the extruded profiles.

The Environment, Sustainability, and Carbon Footprint

This complete project has been designed to minimize ABC’s Carbon Footprint, and maximize efficiency, in line with ABC’s core policy regarding the protection of the environment and maximizing sustainability at every turn, in compliance with the principles and policies embodied in ABC’s Super Green Aluminum initiative.

Further Updates

Regular news updates will stay abreast of the latest progress.

Wadih Kuri, President and CEO, speaking today said “this is an exciting stage of growth for ABC. It combines our ability to offer more rapid turnaround times, and in the case of the 12 inch press, new and needed capabilities, with greater self-sufficiency, thus mitigating risks of water or electricity interruptions, flow rates and outages.
